Between 1916 and 1919, an estimated 20,000 Canadians passed through the town of Buxton. They were wounded and sick soldiers and men who had served their time and who were awaiting embarkation back to Canada. There were also hundreds of Canadian doctors, nurses and other medical staff. The vast majority made it safely back to Canada. For some Buxton remains their final resting place. This book is a modest attempt to tell the stories of some of these men and women and their experiences in Buxton.
