Kostas Georgakis- Genoa 19th September by David Roberts

Kosta Georgakis was born in Corfu on 28 August 1948 in act of desperation and supreme self-sacrifice. he set himself ablaze in the piazza Mateotti in Genoa on 19 September 1970, in protest against the repprssive regime of the Greek Colonels. shouting, "Long Live Greece", "Down with the tyrants", "Down with the fascist colonels" and "I did it for my Greece." he died nine hours later.
